pass your driving test in Europe

Passing your driving
test abroad (in Europe)

The European Court has made some changes to the laws regarding driving license tourism.

Long story short, if you want to pass your test in a European country, you will need to live in that country for 6 months before taking the test there.

HOWEVER...

There is some light at the end of the tunnel, a big light at the end of the tunnel

Some UK test centers
pass just 28% of people

Other UK test centers
pass up to 85% of people

Your local test center might have failed you but switching to one of the test centers that we recommend could significantly increase your chances of passing.

More info on passing in Europe

Previously it was possible to pass in any number of European countries with relative ease. In fact you could just pay for a license without ever taking a test.

Although the UK test is, in my opinion, overly difficult, the European court certainly got it right when they stopped driving license tourism.

Sure the UK test is very tough but would you want people who had never taken a driving lesson with a full license driving around your area?

When you are a safe driver but struggling to pass the UK test it can be very frustrating, although the UK test is hard, it's not impossible and thousands of people pass it every week.

Can you pass your test first time in Europe?

Simple answer, yes it's easy and quick to pass your driving test in Europe providing you meet the rules regarding driving license tourism.

The basic gist it that you need to live in the country you intend on taking the test in for 6 months prior to taking the test.

As long as you are willing to to do that then you should find it very easy to get your EU license.

Passing in Europe (new rules regarding driving license tourism)

Don't be fooled in to thinking this is the easy way out, you will need to pick the correct country to pass in, you will also need to abide by the license tourism rules.

Passing in the EU used to be very easy, now the powers that be have made it difficult, expensive and time consuming.

Countries you don't want to take the test in

The UK test is considered by many as the hardest standard driving test in the world, mainly because of the rules, regulations and technicalities.

The only 2 countries that come close in terms of difficulty are Germany and Finland. In Finland it has been said you practically have to become a rally driver before they will pass you. Germany has arguably the second toughest test in the world. It is similar to the UK driving test, still very tough but with slightly less strict regulations.

Spain is no soft option either.

There are lots of EU countries to choose from, Greece, Moldova, Belarus where
passing is not that tricky.
